COLLECTION: On Tuesday, I attend LA based Skingraft NYFW runway debut. Jonny Cota is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers. The collection was in a palette that consisted of mostly black and white, with a couple pieces in mustard. It was a breath of fresh air in a cloud of pastels & floral this week. This season Cota mixed in sporty details and elements into his signature motocross aesthetic. With jersey numbers, skin guards and athletic mesh, this collection is one to pay attention to the detailing. I instantly wanted all of the black dresses, and leather coats. One by one, I mentally checked the ones that had to be in my closet as soon as possibly. However, when my eyes first met the long white dress, I fell quickly in love. The detailing in the asymmetrical lines and the oh so flattering waistband is just stunning. Not only did I love the women’s part of the collection, the men’s was just as appealing. The second I saw the leather jacket, I dreamt of getting my boyfriend in it. The style and cut was just perfect.

BACKSTAGE: Going backstage especially at Pier 59 studios, is always my favorite part about fashion week. Seeing the collection first hand, the hair/make up concepts and chatting it up with the people that make it happen would be a highlight for anyone. From last minute fittings, to final walkthrough, it’s a trilling experience. The mood was a general calm one backstage. Models showed off their goofy sides, tried to take selfies and in one case did their own hair. Skingraft’s collection was a personal favorite of mine for spring. Jonny Cota is definitely one to watch in the upcoming seasons, and the show is one you can not miss. View the complete collection here
