Jay Godfrey came full circle in his Fall 2015 Presentation at Lincoln Center on Valentine’s Day morning. The collection is an homage to the designer’s beginnings with strong tailoring, modern silhouettes, embellished tweets, modern ultrasuedes and metallic accented jerseys. An internship with Oscar de la Renta fine-tuned the New York-based designer’s style and technique.
Godfrey describes himself as a minimalist who embraces color in an unmistakably sensual way and it definitely shows in his collection. The color palette was made up of charcoals, orchid hues, marsala, neon pinks and vibrant floral prints. It was a beautiful balance of sophistication, excellent tailoring and youthfulness.
One of my favorite pieces and definitely a show stopper was a floral floor length gown. The way it accentuated the female figure makes it the perfect blend of sexy and sophisticated. Another one of my favorites was a flowing black jumpsuit with a silk rose tie at the waist. The plunging neckline once again brings the element of sensual yet tasteful. Throughout this collection, I found myself making note of some of my most-loved pieces, then I realized I couldn't keep count anymore. Each piece is tailored to perfection, it makes me rethink mostly every item in my closet to date. Godfrey is a designer everyone should be watching.
